Archive: retirement of old PHP versions

Archived announcement from 2020: This article documents an earlier PHP migration. Its deadlines have passed, and the versions recommended at that time are not current recommendations.

EDIS announced the retirement of servers running PHP 4.x, 5.0, 5.1 and 5.2 on 30 September 2020. Affected web hosts were then due to move to PHP 5.3. The retirement of PHP 5.3 was subsequently announced for 30 September 2021.

Why updates matter

Outdated software no longer receives security fixes. Attackers can exploit known vulnerabilities and put websites or data at risk.

What to do now

Check the PHP versions available in your EDIS hosting panel. Coordinate an upgrade with your agency or developer, then test your website after the change.

See the official PHP end-of-life list for unsupported versions. Our hosting support team can help with migration questions.
